AN EMINENT MANUFACTORY. AND ITS EMPLOYEES.

The heart of the German precision watchmaking industry beats in Glashütte, an idyllic township in the Ore Mountains, 35 kilometres south of Dresden. This is where A. Lange & Söhne crafts highly exclusive timepieces that reflect not only the splendour of Saxony and the eminent history of the manufactory, but also traditional artisanship and the spirit of innovation that lives in the hearts of the people who craft them.

THE LANGE WATCHMAKING SCHOOL.

Every year, some 14 apprentices are trained in the company’s superbly equipped on-site watchmaking school. The hands-on curriculum allows them to gain experience with wristwatches,
pocket watches, and clocks. The talented young people are given
the opportunity to craft the components of timepieces by hand
and to learn various surface decoration techniques.

Established in 1997, the school promotes trainees commensurate with Lange’s quest for perfection. This not only safeguards the high stan-dards of craftsmanship upheld by the manufactory but also perpetu-ates the spirit of social commitment inspired by Ferdinand A. Lange. In 1845, he founded the first watchmaking workshop in Glashütte and trained 15 young people to become consummate watchmakers. This tradition has been systematically endorsed by A. Lange & Söhne up to today.
