THE PERPETUAL CALENDAR WITH OUTSIZE DATE.

The world’s first wristwatch with a perpetual calendar and an outsize date display was created by A. Lange & Söhne. Its cadrature trans-lates the principles of the Gregorian calendar into mechanical finesse and is calculated to remain accurate until the year 2100.

Lange’s perpetual calendar features an outsize date as well as day-of-week, month, 4-year/leap-year and moon-phase displays. These indications can be advanced individually with separate push pieces or collectively with a convenient main push piece. Thus, the watch can be set with ease, even when the 29th of February is skipped in the secular year of 2100. After this date, a watchmaker must correct the cadrature of a separately switchable “perpetual calendar”, whereas the date can easily be advanced in all of Lange’s PERPETUAL models.
