THE PERPETUAL CALENDAR WITH OUTSIZE DATE.
The world’s first wristwatch with a perpetual calendar and an outsize date display was created by A. Lange & Söhne. Its cadrature trans-lates the principles of the Gregorian calendar into mechanical finesse and is calculated to remain accurate until the year 2100.Lange’s perpetual calendar features an outsize date as well as day-of-week, month, 4-year/leap-year and moon-phase displays. These indications can be advanced individually with separate push pieces or collectively with a convenient main push piece. Thus, the watch can be set with ease, even when the 29th of February is skipped in the secular year of 2100. After this date, a watchmaker must correct the cadrature of a separately switchable “perpetual calendar”, whereas the date can easily be advanced in all of Lange’s PERPETUAL models.
