THE BEAUTY OF BLUED SCREWS.

As was the case over 150 years ago, A. Lange & Söhne uses blued screws not only because of their high corrosion resistance but also because they enhance the beauty of the movement. For blueing, the steel screws are slowly and cautiously heated (annealed) to about 300°C. This process coats the metal with an ultra-thin layer of magne-tite that gives the screws their cornflower-blue hue.
