A MATTER OF ATTITUDE AND ADJUSTMENT.
The result: if the watch runs without interruption and remains adjusted to the correct time, its moon-phase display will need to be corrected by merely one day in 1058 years. Adopting the attitude of Ferdinand A. Lange, the manufactory’s master watchmakers spare no effort to endow a watch with everything that can further improve the precision of time measurement. Thus, the 1815 MOONPHASE “Homage to F. A. Lange” is accompanied by a moon-phase table that allows its lunar disc to be set to one-minute accuracy rather than to the day, as is commonplace. To assure that the rate accuracy of the movement lives up to identical expectations, it is powered by a Lange balance spring developed and manufactured in-house, as are all models of the anniversary edition.
FINISSAGE TO THE UTMOST OF PERFECTION.
As is typical for Lange watches, the balance cock is engraved by hand. To truly appreciate this fine detail, it is important to remember that it is made of 18-carat honey-coloured gold in the 1815 MOON-PHASE “Homage to F. A. Lange”. This metal is significantly harder than other alloys used for this part, so it offers much greater resistance to the burin of the master engraver. The inner part of the three-quarter plate is decorated with a sunburst finish − a Lange première. The outer zone is embellished with solarisation, a romantic, undulated ornamentation, alongside the hand-engraved hallmark of provenance that reads “A. Lange & Söhne, Glashütte/SA”.
