The manually wound calibre L961.2 movement is exceptionally beautiful and endowed with refined technical highlights. It consists of 381 individual parts, has 51 synthetic ruby jewels, and is precision-adjusted in five positions. Highlights inspired by historic predecessors include the sunburst finish on the crown-wheel cock, the bidirectional solarisation on the three-quarter plate, and the undulated ornamentation applied on the periphery.

Hand-engraved in 18-carat honey-coloured gold

18-CARAT HONEY-COLOURED GOLD.

Like the case, the tourbillon bridge and the intermediate-wheel cock are made of 18-carat honey-coloured gold. Its exceptional hardness – an asset for the case – present a formidable challenge to the artist who manually engraves these two parts. The intricate tourbillon carriage is composed of 84 parts and rotates about its own axis once a minute to eliminate the disruptive influence of gravity on rate accuracy.


The stop-seconds mechanism

PROGRESS IN PRECISION WATCHMAKING – STANDSTILL.

The patented stop-seconds mechanism of the tourbillon with its V-shaped arresting spring is a fascinating device. When the crown is pulled, its two dissimilar arms advance into the kinetic range of the classic screw balance and thus stop the tourbillon. The device is optimised in such a way that the balance can be stopped regardless of its amplitudinal position and no matter where the tourbillon carriage happens to be. Additionally, the energy of the balance spring is stored so that the balance can automatically resume oscillating as soon as the crown is pushed home again. The ends of the arresting spring are bent outward to prevent any unintentional engagement when halting and releasing the balance.
