THE NEW INTRINSIC VALUES OF THE GRAND LANGE 1.

The manually wound movement of this GRAND LANGE 1 is the eleventh calibre in the LANGE 1 watch family. Despite the slightly reduced case diameter, a slimmer silhouette of only 4.7 millimetres could be realised, thus enabling the refinement of the dial layout and the case proportions of the watch. Even with the height reduction, it has a power reserve of 72 hours. This is due to the fact that the larger barrel accommodates a longer mainspring. The accuracy of the watch is optimised with a balance spring developed and manufactured in-house, a feat only a handful of manufactories is capable of.

The three-quarter plate made of untreated German silver is decorated with ribbing, and all edges in the movement are chamfered and polished. Even the surfaces that ordinarily remain concealed from the eye of the beholder are meticulously finished. A total of 42 synthetic ruby bearing jewels reduce mechanical friction in the movement to a minimum. Seven of them are held in precious gold chatons that are secured with blued screws.

The manually wound movement of the GRAND LANGE 1 has a stop-seconds feature, activated when the crown is pulled, a patented twin-disc mechanism for the display of the outsize date, and a mechanism that indicates the power reserve. A screw balance with a Lange balance spring is responsible for the accuracy of the GRAND LANGE 1. It is shock-proofed, executes 21,600 semi-oscillations per hour, and is adjusted in five positions. Thanks to the whiplash spring, the patented precision beat adjustment system makes it possible to accurately set the balance relative to the pallet fork without having to remove the balance wheel.
