CHARACTERISTIC HALLMARKS OF LANGE WATCHMAKING PROWESS.
The three-quarter plate made of untreated German silver is decorated with Glashütte ribbing, and edges in the movement are chamfered and polished. Even the surfaces that ordinarily remain concealed to the eye of the beholder are meticulously finished. A total of 53 synthetic ruby jewel bearings reduce mechanical friction in the movement to a minimum. Nine of them are held in precious gold chatons that are secured with blued screws.MORE ABOUT ARTISTIC DECORATIONS

The manually wound movement of the LANGE 1 has a stop seconds feature activated when the crown is pulled, a patented twin-disc mechanism for the display of the outsize date, and a mechanism that indicates the power reserve. A screw balance with a Nivarox 1 hairspring is responsible for the accuracy of the LANGE 1. It is shock-proofed, executes 21,600 semi-oscillations per hour, and is adjusted in five positions. The hand-engraved balance cock carries the whiplash precision index adjuster. Its patented beat adjustment mechanism makes it possible to accurately set the impulse pin relative to the pallet fork without removing the balance wheel - illustrating that Lange had future customer service needs in mind when the watch was designed.
